Q. What does ‘varicose’ mean? A. Nearby

Oregon-Trail-5th-Edition-Video_9E102889Is technology good for education? There’s lots of debate around this – I’m a huge advocate of technology. Love it. But I’m not yet convinced too much of it belongs in the classroom. It might be a little ‘old school’ of me, but you need to know the rules in order to break them. A good foundation of knowledge that you can own when there’s no electricity supply around for you to ‘research’ it.

One way to look at it is that we should teach our children how to master their bodies and minds before we make them dependent on tools and interfaces.

It’s a very difficult question, as I can totally see the reasons and advantages FOR technology and how it can advance learning and reach. What say you?

For now, it comes down to this: technology is more of a distraction than an accelerant. When kids spend too much time playing with tech instead of learning the fundamentals, you end up with exam answers like these – both hilarious and tragic at the same time…remember, these are the people that will be looking after you when you’re old and grey…

    Totally agree.

And the best tools for coming up with ideas are still yer brain, a notepad and a pencil.

    Technology, ironically, limits idea generation.

Thanks gents. It’s good to know there are like-minded folks in other creative departments that know the place of a computer and all those pretty, pretty pixels!
