Has this ever happened to you?
You go into Best Buy of some store like that. You look at a TV or major appliance. A sales associate comes over and explains all the benefits of the item in a friendly and convincing way. You like the item. But, you don’t buy it. You leave the store. That night you think about it and decide to buy it. The next day, you go in and look at it again. Another sales associate comes buy and asks if you need any help and you just say, “Yeah, I’d like to buy this. The second sales associate get credit for the sale. Even though that person did nothing.
The second sales associate gets promoted to VP and starts to run their own store. When things go right, he or she takes credit. When things go wrong, he or she points fingers. If more things go right than go wrong, this person becomes a CEO. If more things go wrong than go right, this person is let go and becomes a CEO somewhere else. This CEO now runs a major corporation, writes a few books and is seen on CNBC as a business expert. And he or she is not the only one—we now have a whole nation filled with corporations run by these idiots who won the lottery of life. But, there comes a time when these people will sooner or later have to make a major decision. And that is when the economy collapses and we’re all put in the situation we’re in today. And it’s all because your indecisive ass needed another day to think about buying your stupid motherfucking TV set.
Asshole.

I believe the term is called “failing upwards” and unfortunately, it’s the way of the world. Just look around any big agency. Nobody ever said life was fair.
The “second sales associate” types are usually accomplished liars as well, given their ability to take credit when it is due to others.
