I love it when I get too much work because then I feel like Jack Bauer. I pretend that the world will come to an end if I don’t meet my 4pm deadline. I even pretend the clock that counts down before the commercial is beeping in my head. I love to say “no problem” and make the job look easy.

I used to work with a guy who did just the opposite.

“No way! Can’t be done. You kidding me? Have you seen the pile of projects on my desk? No way! Just no way!”

I heard that almost everyday when I would pass by his office. Instead of pretending to be Jack Bauer, he pretended to be George Costanza. Remember the episode where George would act annoyed so that his boss would think he was busy?

Guess which one of us currently has a job.

When you make your job look easy, people will think that anyone can do it. That’s why George Costanza has a job with the Yankees and Jack Bauer usually gets shit on by his own government.

I should probably quit watching TV and start looking for work.
