I’ve been thinking about a quote that I read 15 years ago, when I first got into the business. Someone asked a then-successful Creative Director how he knew something was “good.”
Seems like an obvious question. Whenever we share something we’ve created, it’s a question we ask ourselves. Of course, the common answer is, “I know it, when I see it.” But that doesn’t really help. For some, something is “good” if it makes the little voice in their head say “yes!”. Of course, there are some who don’t have a ...

Christian Bale is the same way. His last interview for Esquire was a five-page interview about why he refuses to do an interview about acting. He may be a genius, too, and he is a little nuts. (Google: Christian Bale, rant)

I just saw “Exit Through the Gift Shop”, the fakementary produced by graffiti/punk/pop/multi-channel British artist Banksy.
Although it was released some months ago in the US and Europe, I patiently waited for its presentation at Sao Paulo’s Film Festival here in Brazil.
But, for my surprise, the tickets were sold out after a few hours of the box office opening. So, I did the most honest thing I could do with a Banksy piece: I stole it. Ok, I downloaded the movie for “free”.

I don’t really like art. I know this is probably blasphemy to many people, particularly all of the wannabe Picassos in the ad industry. But, for me, art is just kind of okay.
Yeah, I appreciate the talent involved. And I can look at a painting or sculpture and enjoy what I see. But when people say they ‘love’ art, I just don’t get it.
The thought of even 1 hour at a gallery or museum and I’m like a 10 year old being dragged to the mall with his Mom while ...
