Craig Cooper
Born on the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings (1066), the sinking of HMS Royal Oak at Scapa Flow (1939), the Wehrmacht’s high-water mark at Stalingrad (1942), the death of Erwin Rommel (1944) and, indeed, on the very day the Cuban Missile Crisis began (1962), it seems only natural that Craig Cooper wound up as an advertising creative given his decided lack of interest in getting up early and marching around in circles.
As a creative, Craig has had the privilege of working on many awesome accounts (such as Volkswagen) as well as on a few somewhat-less-than awesome accounts, the identity of which one can determine by their marked absence from his book.
After successful runs at agencies such as DDB Toronto and MacLaren, Craig was hired by BBDO Toronto in 1997 as an Associate Creative Director, eventually becoming Vice President, Group Creative Director and ultimately Senior Vice President, Creative Director.
In late 2000, he and long-time art director Briony Wilson joined with Rob Guenette to form the nexus of what would become Flavour, and in mid-2004 Craig became Executive Creative Director at DDB Dallas.
His work has been recognized by people who have seen it before as well as by the juries of all the national and international awards shows anybody cares about including eight appearances in Communication Arts in the past twelve years.
A closeted geek who has been playing around on the Internet since it was command line-only; in 2007 Craig revealed his true nature by launching dallasmodelworks.com, an e-tail site that he coded using ASP, MS-SQL, binder twine and scotch tape.
Craig is married with a beautiful wife and two very loud sons, none of whom could give a toss about what he has to say about advertising.
